Bits of this, bits of that

First bit, from the Seattle Times:

A recent report to the Seattle City Council on Initiative 75 — which made the adult personal use of marijuana the city's lowest law-enforcement priority — showed people of color are still far more likely to be arrested than whites, despite similar rates of marijuana use.

Second bit, from a Reverend Wright speech:

“The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law and then wants us to sing ‘God Bless America.’ No, no, no, God damn America, that’s in the Bible for killing innocent people,” he said in a 2003 sermon. “God damn America for treating our citizens as less than human. God damn America for as long as she acts like she is God and she is supreme.”

I don't know about some of you, but I think he has a damn good point.

Anyway, this is the most eloquent and honest response Obama could make in response to this whole issue. Course, its still not enough for some people. The 'ole log in their own eyes while pointing out the specks in others thingy.
