And now for your Holy Shit moment....

Dow Jones Industrial Average, last 10 years. I added the red line to highlight the all important 10,000 point.



See that nice dip 2002-2003? That was the tech crises. See how long that recovery took? And that was only one sector of the economy. At this moment the Dow's valuation is at early 1999 levels. I don't think we're going to crawl out of this one as quickly.

And for comparison's sake here's the TSX Composite Index



Unfortunately, the data doesn't go back as far. But the severe drop off at the end is still very telling.

As info: the Dow tanked from '29-'31, as we all know...guess when it got back to October 1929 levels?
That's right, 1954.
