Election 2008 Quick thoughts

  • Ontario is not a Liberal stronghold (repeat after me, Toronto is not Ontario).
  • Alberta and Newfoundland only provinces to be swept by a single party.
  • Green party cannot be discounted. Finished second or third ahead of established parties in multiple ridings.
  • Conservatives are pushing out the Liberals as the centrist party, its Conservative vs. NDP in BC, Ontario and Manitoba.
  • Democracy is the loser again, as the popular vote is nowhere near being reflected in the seat totals.
The above could change, posted before all results in at 10:45 Eastern, as CBC projects Conservative Minority government.

Nice to know this election has changed things, brought sweeping change to parliament and will result in a more functional parliamentary system.......

See you in two years or less when we go through all this again.

Well, except Stevie won't be able to call an election this time around because of that pesky law he passed...Riiiight.....So expect 4 more years

The opposition could still bring down the government. Or Stevie could go to the GG again in a snit.

2 years is a long time in a minority.

Ah, but Harper promises to "work together with the Opposition" to "make Parliament work".
Which kind of begs the question--hey, Steve, why didn't you try that before?

If I had the energy, I'd be ranting about that exact point. I vented quite a bit on the drive in when I heard that part of the speech during the morning news.

Invented a few new cuss words, too bad I can't remember them.
