But I'm going to repeat it anyway. Any talk of the Liberal party support being split on the left is missing the larger point.
The Liberal party was a "big-tent" party that included small-l, small-c as well as more "left" elements. The Liberal party didn't bleed its support to just the NDP. Former Liberal supporters went Conservative, they went Green and they stayed home.
In short, the Liberal party is dying. And just maybe, that's what it and the country needs. Because its soul is gone and the party is just a shell shambling along looking back at former glories. It has no vision, no principles and no immediate purpose or future.
